About Us

The most difficult questions that aspiring homeschooling parents struggle with are choosing the right curriculum and striving to impart it to children without any formal training of teaching. Information on the internet is very unorganized and either discusses personal chronicles of homeschooling parents or provides such a huge variety of curriculum options that parents often end up more confused. Furthermore, the prices of books customized for homeschooling are so high that it eliminates one of the major benefits of homeschooling i.e. affordability.

Prime Homeschool offers Cambridge-based Curriculum and continuously coaches parents online on how to impart that curriculum to their children from Preschool to Grade 8. We break down the curriculum into Weekly Parts and setup Online Meetings with parents to coach them on how to instruct children creatively and effectively. This is carried out step by step on a weekly basis to accommodate manageable pace for both parents and children.

How We Do it!

All our communication at Prime Homeschool takes place online. Every week, we share a

  1. Weekly Lesson Plan with parents which includes
    a. Cambridge-based content for each subject (e.g Maths, Science etc)
    b. Supplementary videos, websites, educational games and activities
    c. Assessment plan to measure the performance of the child
  1. Online Coaching Session (through Zoom, Google Hangout etc) with parents to guide them on how to impart that lesson plan to children in a structured and stepwise manner. Please go to our Study Plan for more details.

In short, we educate you so that you can educate your children without paying exorbitant amount of money for an average quality of instruction, uniforms & costumes, non-essential activities and everyday travelling to a local school.

Curriculum

The curriculum from Preschool to Grade 8 has been designed to enable a child to successfully enter a formal school or appear as a private candidate for the preparation of  IGCSE/O Level. Spanning over 9 years, it is the most suitable duration that homeschooling can be opted for. In addition to this, it is important to choose a curriculum whose primary content in terms of books and online supplementary material is widely available at an affordable price.

The curriculum offered by Cambridge meets these criteria because it is affiliated with over 10,000 schools across 160 counties globally and most of the leading schools also follow the same curriculum. Therefore, it becomes the most suitable choice for developing the basic educational foundation of a child while staying globally relevant and competitive.

The Subjects

Cambridge offers Maths, Science, and English as core subjects. Additionally, it offers Digital Literacy / ICT, Art & Design and Social Studies to augment the educational development of the child.

The curriculum for Islamic Studies and Urdu is based on books which have been printed by internationally recognized publishers and Punjab Textbook Board Pakistan according to the National Curriculum. The specific contents of these subjects have been developed while keeping in mind not just the overall curriculum objectives but also the religious and national requirements of an individual.

The subject of Islamic Studies also includes learning basic Arabic language that enables reading of the Holy Quran. Another objective of the subject is memorization of 30th Juz/Para of the Holy Quran as well as around 40 Ahadith by the end of Grade 8. Furthermore, the subject of Urdu includes proficiency of both reading and writing the language with sufficient emphasis on literature and poetry.

With our subject-wise Weekly Lesson Plans, parents can focus more on the subject(s) that their child is more interested in or need to work harder on. This enables the children to develop specialized knowledge-base in those subjects from an early age and thereby prepares the way for a smooth transition to higher education and professional studies. This helps in achieving an essential characteristic of homeschooling as it refines the inborn talent of the child instead of forcing all those disciplines on him/her that the child does not have a natural aptitude for.

Study Plan

There are four key aspects of our Study Plan which include Weekly Lesson Plan, Online Coaching, Internal Assessments and External Assessments. The details are as follows.

1. Weekly Lesson Plan

Each subject (e.g Maths) is divided into weekly objectives called Weekly Lesson Plans. The lesson plan has been designed considering an educational workload of approximately 2 to 3 hours a day for 5 days a week. Each lesson plan contains the following:

1.1 Primary Content

The primary content contains the resources for the main theory or topic that is studied in a subject. For example, the primary content for Grade 1 Mathematics may include the concept of Addition or the primary content for Grade 5 Science may include the theory on the concept of Gravity. We use internationally recognized Cambridge-based books to prepare Primary Content so that you can easily find these books in the local bookstores near you.

1.2 Supplementary Content

The supplementary content includes online resources such as Website links, YouTube videos and Educational games that assist you in understanding the primary content better. It also includes activities that can be carried out within home to creatively instruct children.

1.3 Assessment

The assessment consists of resources to evaluate the progress of your child during that week. This is a critical part of our Weekly Lesson Plan because it gives parents the confidence that their child is absorbing the knowledge that has been imparted during the week.

2. Online Coaching

Every single week, we hold an Online Video Conference coaching session with the parents to guide them on how to impart the Weekly Lesson Plan. The session is conducted through widely available video conferencing platforms (Zoom, Google Hangout etc) to make it easier for parents to connect with us. Furthermore, this gives parents the opportunity to discuss any other issue related to the coursework, instruction, creative methods to increase a child’s interest in learning etc.

3. Internal Assessments

One of the major concerns of homeschooling parents is evaluating the progress of their child versus other children who go to traditional schools. While parents conduct the weekly assessments, Prime Homeschool conducts periodic Quarterly Assessments as well as Annual Assessments so that the progress of their child could be ascertained at periodic intervals and we can jointly focus on the developmental needs of the child based on these assessments. The assessments are conducted online to extend convenience to both parents and children.

4. External Assessments

In addition to weekly, quarterly and annual assessments that are internal to our service, we also guide parents on how their child can appear in external assessments by Cambridge Assessment International Education which conducts independent exams for students after 6th grade (Cambridge Primary Checkpoint) and 8th grade (Cambridge Lower Secondary Checkpoint). Please visit cambridgeinternational.org for further details.

Kindly note that Prime Homeschool does not take exams on behalf of Cambridge and our fee does not include charges for these external assessments.

Why Homeschool?

Homeschooling is an increasing trend worldwide. In the UK alone, the number of homeschooling children increased by 130% from 2013 to 2018 (www.Forbes.com). More parents are opting for homeschooling as opposed to conventional schooling because of different benefits. While every family has its own motives, the reasons are as diverse as the curriculum options or methods of instruction. Below are some of the most cited benefits that homeschooling parents generally seek.

Cognitive Development of Children & Parents

Homeschooling provides a secure environment for the development of a child against bullying, harassment and epidemics till an age when they are able to face these real-life challenges. Children can engage in more activities per day and become independent learners. With individual attention from teaching parents at his/her own pace, a child learns a customized curriculum better through effective and creative instruction.

Furthermore, parents are natural teachers but need some guidance on formal methods of instruction as well as contemporary curriculum requirements. By engaging in a rigorous program of homeschooling, parents themselves feel elevation in their own cognitive ability as they constantly try to learn how to impart different concepts in various subjects and then instruct their children creatively and effectively.

Flexibility in Time Management

Homeschooling enables parents to schedule their tasks more flexibly. Since there is no need to drop off or pick up children from school every single day, it gives parents more time for their own tasks including home chores or office work. Similarly, the instruction of lessons can take place at any time at home when both parents and children are physically & mentally ready. This does not imply an absence of routine. In fact, strict discipline is imperative for homeschooling but there is more control in establishing a routine that has consensus from everyone.

Family Relationship and Values

When parents spend more time educating their own children, it naturally strengthens the relationship within the entire family. But one of the most significant and worthy consequence of homeschooling is the transmission of family and religious values from parents to children. Sometimes, schools try to instill certain values in children which parents consider to be conflicting with their own and therefore do not want their children to be exposed to such standards of behavior. Homeschooling allows nurturing a child with family’s own values until he/she is old enough to deal with different worldviews.

Affordability

Schools are more expensive due to many reasons. Firstly, they charge higher fee but only provide an average level of instruction. The problem becomes especially more serious when a teacher, even if competent, is unable to instruct every child when the average class size of students is 25 or more. Secondly, there is a travelling cost of dropping off and picking up children from schools. Thirdly, schools hold certain events that parents find unnecessary but are forced to pay for costumes, foods, gifts etc.
Homeschooling helps parents get the most out of their investment. They can not only provide their children with better instruction but can also spend their savings for a broader development of their child. It is a comprehensive system of development that enables parents to get their children involved in out-of-home activities such as sports in local clubs, participation in community services, non-curriculum development programs etc depending on the interests of the child.

All these benefits are accumulated when parents are willing to take the responsibility that comes with homeschooling. This is why people who take on the challenge claim it to be extremely satisfying and rewarding not just for children but also their own development as individuals. Prime Homeschool enables people to follow this journey of entire family’s development with much more security and peace of mind as we guide them regarding curriculum, lesson plans, internal assessments, external assessments and much more. After just a couple of weeks, people can see the difference in the learning ability of their children as well as themselves and hence it can be said that homeschooling is not just a replacement of a child’s school but a system of comprehensive development of the entire family.
